Especially in the last 24-48 hours I have found myself being a bit more sensitive to those around me, and feeling compelled to show more support and encouragement during each interaction. Below are 4 tips to encourage one another at work in the spirit of being helpful to one another.

1. Be Polite – It seems simple doesn’t it?  We are all in this together and all have a lot on our minds.  A few well-chosen encouraging words and a smile can go a long way. Remember the adage “That does not kill us make us stronger.”  We will get through this.

2. Wash Your Hands, often – The more we wash our hands the better.  Its more sanitary and respectful of others. This is especially true for those who are sharing a workplace with colleagues. Historically, healthcare workers are good at hand washing and hygiene. I think we are all going to be more cognizant of practicing more frequent hand washing.

3. Be smart about business travel – We all need to be seen in person from time to time by our staff, customers, prospects, and more.  Yet, we really need to maintain healthy social distancing. This is an opportunity for us to learn new skills and expand our collective comfort zones. Much can be done from afar once we take that leap.

4. Now is a good time to learn to use more technology – If you have been wanting to improve your skills with applications like Face Time, Go to Meeting, Zoom, and more to improve communication from afar, now is your chance. Necessity has always been the mother of invention.

Let’s help and support one another. We can do this!
