Beginning in the month of December 2020, the Covid-19 vaccine produced by Pfizer will be rolled out to healthcare workers and patients around the country. Vaccinations in several hospitals began on Monday, December 14th.
Long-term care facilities will be participating in a federal program called The Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program. Immunization doses will begin on December 21st. Participating pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens, and others will manage the process from beginning to end, including ultra-cold storage.
SNFs will be breaking up residents and staff into 2 groups to form a vaccination schedule. Groups will receive their two doses at specified intervals.
Vaccine produced by Moderna is expected to be approved by the FDA later in December.
