Early Intervention Speech Therapy
Early Intervention speech therapy is a service that focuses on improving a child’s speech and abilities to understand and express language, including nonverbal language. Early Intervention is an effective means in treating (and even preventing) speech and language disorders and may also help to prevent later developing literacy or language challenges.
Working in their natural environment creates the unique opportunity for therapists and caregivers to work together to create strategies and activities within the daily routine to promote the development of speech and language.
Early Intervention speech therapy sessions are play based as children learn through play. Play is fun and is a natural part of a child’s development. Play also creates the desire for your toddler to talk and communicate. Your child’s therapy sessions may include playing with toys, singing age-appropriate songs, and arts and crafts all while learning language concepts such as colors, shapes or following directions. You are encouraged to observe the sessions and the speech therapist will always leave time at the end of each session to review progress with you, answer any questions you may have. You are a key part to increasing your toddler’s speech and language development.
In home speech therapy services provides many benefits as it allows our team to provide therapy in the most natural way for the child. Surrounded by family or caregivers and his/her own toys, not only allows the child to feel comfortable, but get more out of speech-language therapy as well through a familiar environment. Providing in home speech therapy services helps our team create opportunities for parent/family coaching on strategies and techniques that can be carried over throughout the child’s daily routines.
